Theoretical High Energy Physics

String theory, black hole physics and non-perturbative field theory. Recent work deals with applications of the holographic principle arising in String Theory to problems of initial singularity in cosmology and to out-of-equilibrium problems in many body systems. Past work involved the physics of Hawking radiation, noncommutative gauge theories, noncritical string theory and random surfaces, matrix models for nonperturbative strings, W-gravity, large-N gauge theories, vortices and monopoles.
