Jamie Woodworth
Graduate Research Assistant
I am a fourth-year graduate student and collaborator on the BL3 Experiment, which aims to make precision measurements of the neutron lifetime to 0.3 s using the beamline method. My work includes using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to survey as-built vacuum chambers, characterizing the location of chamber flanges by fitting measurement data in Python, and designing custom parts in CAD software to compensate for defects in the chamber’s construction. I am also coordinating the design and construction of the target ladder system for BL3, which will position target deposits along the beamline without breaking vacuum.
