Studies in SU(2) with two flavors of adjoint fermions
Joel Giedt (RPI)
I will discuss various studies that we have performed in the SU(2) gauge theory with two flavors of fermions in the adjoint representation, using lattice field theory techniques. It is now believed that in the infrared this theory flows to an infrared fixed point, where it is described by an interacting conformal field theory. We have studied the running coupling using Creutz ratios for the definition, and find results that are consistent with this picture. We have also performed a finite size scaling analysis on the spectral data and find an anomalous mass dimension of about 1/2. Finally, we have used Monte Carlo renormalization group methods to compute the discrete beta function and the anomalous mass dimension, but find large uncertainties in this approach.
