- IMPORTANT information for volunteers, high school students, minors, and/or undergraduate students:
- THE DEPARTMENT MUST BE MADE AWARE OF ANY VOLUNTEERS, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, MINORS, AND/OR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS WHO PLAN TO WORK IN ONE OF OUR LABS- necessary steps must first be taken at the department level before you can complete the steps listed below.
- All volunteers, regardless of other classifications, must complete the documentation/forms found here.
- Lab volunteers are defined as any unpaid individual working in a lab environment. This includes unpaid undergraduates not enrolled in research courses and working in a lab environment. For undergraduates under this classification, completion of the volunteer documentation/forms is required.
 
- Minors must complete the documentation/forms found here.
- After-hours building access cannot issue to volunteers, high school students, minors and/or undergraduates in conjunction with access to active research labs containing hazardous materials or instruments.
- Lab access for undergraduate students enrolled in a research course often limits to the semester enrolled and may require subsequent access requests depending on changes to classification(s).
- Volunteers, high school students, minors and/or undergraduates are not permitted to work unsupervised in a lab containing hazardous materials or instruments.

- By requesting access to labs and/or instruments, the requesting party certifies completion of safety courses, laboratory specific training, and/or instrument specific training. Submission of this form represents an electronic signature and understanding of the requirements and responsibilities listed.
