# Perspectives on entanglement and quantum field theory

I will start describing the main features of entanglement in quantum field theory. Then I will focus on two main applications. I will show how entanglement entropy and relativity combine to give a simple geometric proof of the irreversibility theorems of the renormalization group, that is, the irreversible change in the theory with the typical length scale of the processes. I will then describe how to use entropic related quantities to produce order parameters for different kinds of symmetries, and a new surprising relation between "electric" and "magnetic" order parameters.
